The new Libyan government is facing the challenge of keeping Muslim Brotherhood loyalists at bay

Libya has been the victim of frequent conflicts and wars, challenging its stability since the downfall of its despotic leader Muammar Gaddafi. While the formation of the interim government is underway in Libya. Many parliamentarians, who have been scrambling for gaining key cabinet positions in the current government have had an association with the outlawed group in the past. Aides closer to Libya’s Prime Minister-designate Abdulhamid Dbeibeh revealed that he has been under pressure to make specific selections for certain portfolios and even delaying the process altogether.

Internal sources revealed that the aim of the unity government was to select leaders, who had no prior association with the Muslim Brotherhood’s political branch, the Justice and Construction Party, or any with the previous internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA). United Nations Security Council has been pressing the conflict-riddled nation for setting up an interim government, which would eventually make way for a stable political setup in the African country. Analysts believe the presence of Brotherhood members in the new government could prove detrimental to the country’s peace and stability.
